A holiday always brightens the spirits! Thanksgiving 2011 saw us sans our kids who stayed in California, but Chris' brother John motored across the country to join us en route to Tesuque, NM. Our friends Dom & Wendy invited us to share the celebration with their family--son Andrew, daughter Kimmy & husband Andy. Their garage was camouflaged in festive fall colors and we all shared in the food prep. Yummy.

Steve continues the never ending task of trimming windows. Here he's working in the dining room area clamping the sills.

Chris has been installing the exterior lights bit by bit. Nothing ever fits easily and he fussed and fumed over every single fixture. Here he is getting the gooseneck lamps on the deck outside the dining room to conform to his wishes.

Brother John was an angel and gave us several days of hard muscle work sanding the beams in the den and then oiling them with the lemon scented magical oil that made them extra beautiful and, not to mention, finished. Now it remains for me to paint the walls in that room after which it is close to being finished, except of course for the fact that we are still waiting on some doors.

Next subject is heat, glorious radiant floor heat in the basement floor and all bathrooms and other tiled floor areas in the house. The actual heater is the itty bitty white box on the wall in the left picture ... and the condensation coming out of the pipe in the right picture is proof that it is working. Boy, what a difference it has been to have the basement heated ... the lovely warmth seeps up through the floor into the main living area and complements the Tulikivi wonderfully. We are getting there!

There is stuff going on everywhere it seems. Here DirtWorks (husband and wife team Bo & Becky) deals with our mountainous dirt piles to redistribute the dirt in more appropriate places. The result will be land that is sculpted to maximize water runoff and also to look nice. The plan is to do the coarse work, the major redistribution, now and then come back in the spring and do the final grading after everything has settled and sunk (is that a word?) a bit.

And then there is Evan, who has been assiduously working for several weeks in isolation in the basement transforming a dark and dreary hole in the wall into a magnificent gleaming white bathroom. He's excited to soon be allowed upstairs to attack other tasks that await him among the buzz of other human beings.
