The Pressure is ON!

Here is a sure sign that we are invited to move on and get out ... and I'm all for it. We have the added (slight) annoyance of needing to make the house available for realtor showings. It's a small thing.

Staircase number two takes shape. This one was sort of an instant staircase compared to the other one which required fitting and refitting numerous times. This procedure was an intense several hour affair with dire consequences if any one of us slipped up.

We all breathed a bit easier once the top platform had been bolted in place and was secure. Here Chris and Evan check that the triangle is level. As you can see we now have two staircases going upstairs ... we can't use the red one yet as it's not finished so it will be a while before we chop the wooden one into firewood and eliminate all evidence of it's prior existence in the Tulikivi. :-)

Evan rigged up a clever way of supporting the handrail for staircase #1 to be able to router sand and finish (read, make shiny) it. In the next pix he is starting to address the oak treads for staircase #2. Can you see that he is smiling?

Master sander Abi at work in my studio ... she is power sanding all the beams to get them cleaned up and then oiling them (after which they are finished).

I know this is OLD news, but Chris is still spackling and sanding walls ... here in the master bedroom ... I thought another pix of him doing the same thing would be dull, so here he is cleaning his pails just for a change of pace. Lest you think Chris is only doing this menial task I must tell you that he is wearing twenty different hats constantly and jumping from problem to solution to putting out fires all day long.
