You will notice that the garage has no roof ... it also has no inner stud walls to bear said roof. That is the task at hand right now. It has taken a number of days to sort out what is actually in place with what has to be built. The cement contractor poured the sill walls something like a foot and a half too high so all the SIPs had to be lopped off by that amount, and any number of other irritating details that were just not right. Thank god Lars is here to help figure it all out, and Evan is a total wiz with the CAD program on his computer to quickly sort out the visuals and angles. Our architect's drawings were half baked and of no use at all in construction. So much for architects. So the guys are flying by the seat of their pants. Meanwhile, I am of no use in the garage, so I've been put to work painting the frames that go around the outside of each window in the place ... the frames that the siding will butt up against eventually. It is the same blue that we painted the facia boards in several months ago.
The weather can be quite extreme here from one day to the next as evidenced by the picture of Evan cutting boards in 60 degree sunshine (see him in shorts in the small insert picture) ... but whoa!! ... the following day was in the 20s with snow falling all day accompanied by unpleasant howling winds. I am told this is a normal "spring in the Rockies".
