Fourth of July weekend

This coming week begins on a tuesday because the Fourth of July weekend just came and passed ... and what a great weekend and break from building we had! Chris' cousin Carol and her husband Ira (from NJ) , and daughter Diana (Frisco, CO), visited and diverted our attentions with outings, the antics of the Salida Circus, fireworks, lots of good catching up and instilling of a general feeling of well-being and family connectedness.

We have the help of two fantastic craftsmen to put up our exterior siding (laboriously stained previously by us). Joe and Steve will be with us probably for several weeks ... and, boy, oh boy, do we appreciate them! The siding will be board and batten, so all the white gaps you see will be covered by the 4" battens when all is said and done.

Our solar panels are now installed ... not connected yet ... just installed. And the three "people" doors I painted for the garage have been hung, but we don't have the door hardware as yet.

To finish the roof off completely, we took delivery of the custom made galvanized metal cap for the chimney top. Chris can be seen taping it in preparation for painting the edges black before installation. Then we see Evan up on top assembling all the pieces one last time. Followed by a glorious bird's eye view of the whole finished roof, including solar panels.
