Lars is here!

A few days ago we drove up to our job site after dinner because I wanted to see what Chris had worked on in the afternoon when I was off doing something else. The temperature dropped 39 degrees in the ten minutes it took to get up there. No sooner did we arrive than the heavens unleashed a hailstorm of massive proportions ... it began humbly enough, and I gamely rolled down the car window to document the white pellets (mostly because I was so amazed that ice balls were falling from the sky in July). The storm quickly intensified and we sat there in the car in disbelief. Soon we realized that melt water torrents were gathering in our ditches and ravines and thought it best to head out while the going was good. The dirt exit road's ditches were overflowing with runoff and threatening the very roadbed ... the culverts were filled with silt and debris and backing up alarmingly fast. It was a bit nerve racking to witness this fury of nature unleashed on our dear Eureka Ranch. We retreated back to Salida and our dry, safe rental house amid a terrific light show with zillions of firing flashes all firing at once. Blackest sky I've even seen hanging over us. Once home, it didn't take long for the whole thing to pass and a lovely rainbow came out and smiled at us.

Radon mitigation tubes have now been put in (black tubes) and plumbing lines for the ground level are almost completed ... this is being done by a proper plumber. The septic line going out to the septic tank is under way under the able care of Rich who is super deft with the big backhoe. He was also the one who excavated the whole foundation with his assistant Donald (who can be seen helping Chris with the radon tubes).

But the big bright spot of the week was the arrival our son Lars last night after a long marathon drive from California! Yeah!
