We almost have a finished septic system. A long pristine white PVC pipe extends downhill from the house, then a huge cement box with several different chambers in it, followed by an enormous leach field with four big black filter gadgets neatly lined up side by side. I think it looks like a sinister burial site for radioactive waste. Thankfully it all gets covered up and Mother Nature will hopefully see fit to replant the beautiful sage and wildflowers that she had so lovingly put there in the first place.

Lars and Chris are checking the top surface of the entire periphery of the cement walls with a transit to locate all the slight ups and downs that need to be adjusted for prior to the sill plate's installation. They found that it wasn't as bad a Chris had feared.

Next they tackled the insulation and mesh for the shop floor ... I think after this is cement. We are having an issue with daily rain deluges. It seems that August is monsoon season around here and the clouds build and build all day, and by evening they are so sopping wet with moisture that they can't hold it any longer and just dump it ... after fifteen minutes, the sun is shining again as if nothing happened. The result is that this shop floor area fills up like a swimming pool and the insulation sheets float until the water subsides ... I'm waiting to see if Chris decides to remove the plastic membrane which is under the blue stuff. Chris is very frazzled over this rain situation because you really can't pour the concrete floors and end up with a beautiful smooth finish if the rain beats down on it while wet. Ah, the joys of building in the "desert".
