Let the magic begin! The huge timbers are all pre-cut and fit together without a hitch ... mostly. The team from Wind River Timberframes are a tight group that function like a choreographed dance when they work. It is truly awe-inspiring to watch ... a little scary though because of the possible damage to humans and others if something were to drop unexpectedly.
At the end of the first day we all enjoyed a meal together "in the new house" ... before we were done, a lovely "harvest moon" rose over the horizon and looked splendiferous through the house timbers.
The second day of the raising got us up to the rafters and now the structure actually looks like a house ... better yet, it looks like the house Chris and I designed. How's that for good fortune?
Lars is checking out the view from the second floor studio ... I suspect he approves. Shortly after, the boys started the task of framing the walls in the basement. This is not as exciting as the timber framing happening above them, but it needs to be done. Over the weekend, Lars' truck needed some engine work, and Chris got right into it. The engine bit him and he lost a fingernail in the process.
