We thought that you didn't get tornados in the mountains ... but one day at lunchtime we noticed this suspiciously tornado like formation up in the sky ... it was spinning and was definitely not a normal cloud. Eventually it headed off to the southeast and dissipated. The next day our tornado was all over the news and referred to as a a very rare "funnel cloud."
The big event of the week was a visit by Chris' sister Lisa (from Hawaii) and our shared friend Melinda (from NYC). Melinda prefers not to be captured on camera so she took this picture. One day we had a lunch picnic up at Cottonwood Pass and shivered and shook as we watched the surrounding clouds in all directions giving us a terrific crashing lightning show. Because of the electrical charge in the air we didn't dare hike very far afield lest we be the target of a stray bolt. Summer flowers were at their prime up there and didn't seem to mind the cold.
The house is moving along, we are just about done with the siding (finally!) and next week I think the stone mason is coming back to do his final bit.
Evan and Joe are making shed roofs for the basement garage and the adjacent exterior entry door. I should say that Chris' knee has healed up and he is back in shape again. He's been doing mostly general contractor work (read going easy on his knee) which means he's been doing research on what comes next and lining up supplies and negotiating for our spiral staircase and such cerebral work.
