Well, the slogging is slow right now. The weather has been less than cooperative. The assembly of our trusses has been dependent on warmish temperatures which have been in short supply (glue needs to cure and dry) . Spring in the Rockies is an iffy proposition we are discovering. It can be balmy down in town, and up at the job site it is bitter on every level Mother Nature can dish up. But now those trusses are FINISHED! We had a forklift on order for today and a crane for tomorrow, but both have been put off a day because of snow and melting stuff that turns the grounds into a muddy mess which is not good for the stable ground footing the crane requires when we lift those trusses into position.
So we are waiting as patiently as possible and doing other smaller jobs meanwhile. We are all very fond of our Tulikivi which is keeping the house warm.
If is is not snow, it is hail!
The resident elk make daily appearances in the early morning and late afternoon. This is just a small faction grazing and turning their rumps toward us because they are feeling anxious by our presence and are making ready to run off.
One completed task this week has been the installation of a rural mailbox of the lockable variety. Ours is the one on the far right with the Swedish flag on the front (natch). We are going to phase out the PO box address in Poncha Springs and for those of you who care about such things, our mailing address henceforth will be 13676 Hidden Valley Trail, Salida, CO 81201. The small inset photo is of Chris as he installed the post encased in cement, the box itself was installed the next day.
