Picnic in the sagebrush

The first guests at our new home was our Salida friends Judy and Randy Hoch ... they were game to wear their sun hats and brave the winds for a picnic amid the sagebrush. We gave them the deluxe tour of our building site and they promised to keep a regular eye on things. Skål!

We got a little confused installing the first light switch box at the basement level and had to move the box up a tad as you can see in the picture. It's easy to understand the momentary confusion when you realize that the final floor level in the basement is at the chalk line as Chris is illustrating in the adjacent image. No problem. We took care of it. Take a look at the lovely three way switch and attached conduit channels by the basement entry door ... again, the floor level will be about four inches above where Rita is standing.

The window and door rough frame openings are being hammered together by Rick and Brian in the last picture. I can hardly wait to see what they look like in place ... maybe that will happen tomorrow. Oh boy! I think the main purpose of these frames is twofold, first to keep the wet cement from flowing out of the window holes and then, later, to nail the real windows to when they are installed.
